Subject: SERIOUS ERROR IN THE CLASS OF 66 PHOTO !!!!
Fwd: Re. Circular No. 186, The Abbey School MSB (resending)
Dear Ladislao,
There is a serious error in identifying those in the photograph of 1966.
So .... Allow me to "beat my drum".
The No. 1 in that photo IS NOT ... I repeat .... IS NOT Russell Kuna .....as Jeremy De Barry (I believe) seems to identify.
That person IS ME !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rafael Echeverria .... CHE-CHE .... the problem is that Russel and I were so much alike... we physically resembled each other so much ....that everybody (including ourselves and making jokes at each other) used to laugh about it all the time.
Well ... 40 years later confusion seems to reign in that subject about "Cunha and CheChe".
Russel has a story about MY MOTHER coming to him saying ".... hola mi amor Dios Te Bendiga ..." during a visit of my parents to Mount on a weekend .... my mother with her hands extended ready to kiss her beloved son she so much missed ..... and Russel ... jumping backwards just in time to prevent that "event" ... told my mom in desperation ... "Oh No Madam ... I am not Che Che ... I am not your son !!!!!". My mother has been laughing for years ever since. She still remembers the anecdote. I am sure Russell too. I certainly do.
My mother ... however ... when she saw me afetr that "confusing moment" ... instead of giving the kiss she was ready for ... looked at me and asked me .... "CheChe??? ... thet call you CheChe?? .... why is that ???" At home ... we still laugh our guts out ... everytime we remember that episode.
However....I remember that Russell was a lot taller than me ... and his hair was even blonder and not as curly as mine.
Yes Ladislao ... that is a true story .... and everyone at Mount used to make jokes about our resemblance all the time ... fellow students, teachers, priests, workers ... everybody.
So please try to tell everyone ... (I am also sending this mail in copy for Norman Smith so that he may send it to Jeremy whose email I do not have...
I wish so much to write to him ... he taught Norman and I how to play the guitar !!!!!!!!... A GREAT FRIEND ... A GREAT MOUNT BOY ... JEREMY DE BARRY !!!!!)
Love to ALL ..........
Rafael .... CheChe
(Sorry CHECHE there is no email address for Russell Cunha. Ed)

Thank you Ladislao ... for sending me some old reports I did not have .... thanks a lot ... I am now here in Maracaibo for a time ...
it was good to know about Peter Laughlin... we studied together and belonged to the same basketball team at Mount ...

Hola Ladislao,
Fabio Amici
Hello Ladislao,
My sister who lives in Italy sent The Abbey School Web page to me.
No that not even this existed.
He has been a pleasing one to please to remember many things again.
Casually I appear in the photo in number 26 (Fabio Amici) the 22 is Luis Alfredo Mezzana, cousin of Humberto Luongo, and the 25 it is Alfredo Benarroch.
I accidentally say since I belong to the class of the 67, but as I left 5 grade in Venezuela in July when arriving at Trinidad in September placed to me in Prep To those three months when in fact should have been in Prep B.
The following year I have left in Prep To and I left Mount in the 67.
The photo at issue was taken by nicknamed priest "Voosh" at the end of 1961. Of old boys the one that seen with relative frequency is Enrique Castells who surely known.
A great hug and thank you very much by the initiative of the page,
Fabio Amici

Trinidad.
Lots of great photos from a trini.
Amid all of the problems and pressure of living the trini dream these days, sometimes it good to just remember the richness that is Trinidad and Tobago.
Really like lots of these.
Hope you enjoy.

Dear Salvador,
Hi there, how are you? How is life?
I just found the abbey web site and saw your name, and somebody of around my age, I am 49 years this year (aug.9th.1956)
It’s good to see a old face.
I am bald but the same size didn’t change physically that much.
I left Trinidad around 1975, I came up to Halifax Nova Scotia to meet Hudson my brother who was here a year before me.
I lived in Trinidad about a year after the mount, and have been in Halifax/Canada since then.
I knew so many Venezuelan friends that I wish I knew what ever happened to them.
I met my wife Pam here in Canada, she was born in India and grew up in London England, and we got married in Trinidad in 1977, and have lived here since then.
I have three children Kelly 25, Sophia 22 and John 15.
Life has been good to me, some ups and downs but more ups than down.
I got in contact with Tim Healy about 3 yrs. ago he was in Florida then, so I went down to see him for a week, I think it was like 20 yrs since I last saw in Trinidad with his 1st wife and he has remarried since then.
My brother Hudson (piano player) is now a bank manager with the Royal bank in Toronto, his wife also has a good job with the Royal bank.
My wife is with the Bank of Montreal, I also work for the bank 23 year now, I am in cheque processing electronic banking etc.
I might retire in 6 years, could you believe that.
I think mono loco is in Toronto also I heard he is a lawyer??
I have a bunch of photos from mount, when I get a chance I will send them in, I think you are in some of the scout photo, you as a boy, any how must go now just wanted to say hi .............

How could I ever forget such good times, thanks to Cutty always thinking big...
I have lots of photos, would like to get circular letter etc.

Glen,
This is from another Glen (one N).
Got your email from Salvador.
I left Trinidad after Mount and joined Schlumberger (oil) and funny enough was sent to Venezuela for 10 years.
I have been around the world to Far East ,Middle East, India, Africa all of South and North America, etc. ending up in Ft Lauderdale where my wife comes from.
Been married 16 years ( no children, however, I am the big baby ) and like you happy.
I am 50 and also going bald but still feel 30.
Looking back and remembering the old days I hold no resentment and often return to our homeland to visit my parents.
On occasion, I realize that when my faith is tested it makes for endurance-----Undoubtedly one of the many trophies resulting from my stay at PAX IN VIRTUTE.
Saludos and keep well.

Don, Edward, Lazslo Howard,
I am in Guyana, preparing to launch the political party on the 24th October for next year's general elections, so I may not even go to the US in October this year as I usually do.
I may go with the Guys to raise money in New York and Toronto for the Campaign, but no more holidays this year.
Glad the hurricane missed you, so sad that the previous one did so much damage to the people of Louisiana! do you know that Georgetown the capital city of Guyana and most of the coastal plain where 90 percent of our population live is also below sea level.
Earlier this year 24.66 inches of rain fell in 5 days!! from the 14th January to the 18th January 2005 we were flooded in 6 feet of water for nearly two months 13 people died from Leptospirosis and other medical complications billions [guyana dollars] in property was also lost.
As my gardener Fazal would say "everybody getting it good boss!"
Portland, Oregon? You are wide afield Howard what are you doing there?
Are you close to Michael Azar, the guy seems to have dropped off the planet! no one has been able to raise him.
The last telephone number I have for him is 503-254-4101 give him a tinkle if you have the time.................
whilst I was writing this to you I said to myself, what the hell I may as well call the guy myself, so I called his number it has been disconnected, Joe's silence now takes on a sinister aspect.
Is anyone in contact with the Michael Azar? the last time i spoke to him he was not well guys, so lets find out what happened shall we?
Does anyone know how to contact the real Big Joe in Trinidad?
he's the older brother that owns the Mall near Port of Spain.
I ran into him patrolling his empire in his Mercedes last year when on a visit to T&T.
It was a hilarious encounter, I saw him and I recognised him right away since, I used to see him working at Joseph's arcade when I went to town with Michael on Saturday's, so I asked him what he was doing patrolling the place, I even accused him of stalking some woman or the other since during the time when I was waiting for my wife [a notorious shopper] I saw him drive by several times looking around, he laughed and told me that he was actually working since he owned the place and he was inspecting it.
Tony
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------.
Tony,
Good hearing from you!
Houston fortunately was on the "good" side of Rita and sustained relatively little damage.
"Bacchanal" survived as well, estimated sustained winds in the marina was about 65 MPH...
the biggest impact to the Houston area is gasoline shortages, electricity outages daily as they balance the load (since capacity was lost) and finally, traffic...it'll take a couple more weeks to recover....
Are you in Guyana or US at present?
All the best,
Howard in Portland.
